“Jewish population fled Vilnius”?! Sadly, that is incorrect. According to the search results, the Holocaust in Lithuania resulted in the near total eradication of the Jewish population. Of the approximately 208,000-210,000 Jews living in Lithuania at the time of the Nazi invasion in 1941, an estimated 190,000 to 195,000 were killed before the end of World War II[1]. This represents over 95% of Lithuania's Jewish population that was murdered during the three-year German occupation. Specifically for Vilnius (Vilna), the Jewish population on the eve of the Holocaust was at least 60,000, with some estimates as high as 80,000[3]. Throughout the summer of 1941, German troops and their Lithuanian collaborators killed more than 21,000 Jews living in Vilnius[3]. By November 1941, most Jews who had been concentrated in ghettos in the larger cities, including Vilnius, had been massacred[2]. While exact percentages for Vilnius alone are not provided, given that over 95% of Lithuania's total Jewish population was murdered, it's reasonable to conclude that a similar or even higher percentage of Vilnius' Jewish population was killed, likely exceeding 90%[2]. The destruction of Lithuanian Jewry, including in Vilnius, was one of the most complete in Europe during the Holocaust[2].

Well don’t call it ‘accessible to everyone’ please. If you are in a wheelchair, sadly you will be left out of visiting 80%+ of those places. None of the 3 new Vilnius Michellin star restaurants are accessible. It’s bizzare that we celebrate a city/national achievement on stars leaving a portion of our population out of it. To me - this example best illustrates the overall situation in the country

My father a Persian married his wife who’s Lithuanian.. (Chicago). So our family meals incorporate both worlds plus American. Kugelis and summer soup (pink borscht) are our favorite. Ironically the foods being worlds apart we share a Russian dish called salad Olivier ……found all over Eastern Europe and Middle East.

Interesting video, you did a really good job of highlighting what Vilnius has to offer. One quick clarification - there was large scale Jewish emigration from the region to North America in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Bagels were already popular in NYC and Montreal for a while before WWII. And unfortunately most of the Jewish people in Vilnius during and after WWII were either killed or deported. Saying they fled seems like a gross misstatement of history.

HK I will go if my health allow me to. But some of your reviews such as NY or cities in Calif.? if it is more than 3,4 years old, will definitely need revising. I would have tried to avoid NY Calif cities and other Democratic run hell holes as much and as far as I can. I live in Toronto and the former fastest way to get there were to fly the polar route near the north pole, and I am glad the Ukraine war ended that route which I considered slightly more dangerous than over the ocean. The savings for fuel and other expenses went to general revenue for the airlines.
